How to deal with dirt in your system water?

Most people will know that (circulating) water in a system after a while becomes dirty (contaminated), which is more or less seen as inevitable. But, nothing could be further from the truth. Even with the best system water, unpleasant effects such as corrosion and the resulting corrosion particles in the system cannot be completely prevented.

Did you know that air in your system water causes corrosion?

If these corrosion particles and other dirt aren’t removed in an effective and continuous process from your system water, problems can occur such as:

  • Thermostatic valves become jammed
  • Pipes will get blocked
  • Wear and tear of components within the system
  • Reduced efficiency of the system
  • Higher energy consumption

How to remove even the smallest particles from your system

Often, a filter is used in the system to remove the dirt, but this isn’t always the best solution. Filters get jammed and need to be cleaned and replaced regularly which results in extra (labour) costs.

Especially nowadays with systems becoming smaller and smaller, just like the volume of water in the system. This means that dirt has a relatively high, negative impact on the performance of the system.

To optimally protect your heating or cooling system, the correct placement of a dirt separator is essential. A dirt separator is preferably installed at the point where the system water enters the heating or cooling unit, usually in the return line.

Why on the return line?

  • Here, the water flows back to the (sensitive) system components, such as pumps, heat exchangers and valves.
  • Trapping debris at this point will prevent it from causing damage to these crucial parts.
  • This not only improves the performance and lifespan of your system, but also reduces the risk of breakdowns and maintenance costs.

With a strategically placed dirt separator from Spirotech, your system stays clean, efficient and protected from contamination, even under the most demanding conditions. This way you ensure a problem-free and durable system.
